Clinicians for the Workshop

Michael Hining, Violin

Michael Hining has been teaching for over three decades. His former students have been accepted to all major conservatories across the US as well as members of major orchestras worldwide. Mr. Hining has been the recipient of several awards including the SAA Studio Outreach Award, the Illinois ASTA Teacher of the Year, and the NIU Outstanding Alumni Award. His studio in Oak Park Illinois has performed concerts at Carnegie Hall, The White House for Michelle Obama, and won the gold medal at the Sydney International Music Festival. Michael is thrilled and honored to work with the students at the New Orleans Suzuki workshop!!!

Stephanie Screen, Violin

Stephanie Screen is a New Orleans native who has been teaching private music lessons in the area since 1997. She holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in piano pedagogy from Loyola University New Orleans, and has studied four levels of Suzuki violin pedagogy under teacher trainer Ronda Cole through the Greater New Orleans Suzuki Forum's Summer Institutes. She teaches in Loyola University's Preparatory Music Department and maintains a personal studio of private piano and violinstudents as well. She currently serves as the Music Assistant at First Baptist Church of Kenner, and also enjoys working as an active performer in the New Orleans area.   

Rebecca Floyd, Viola

Rebecca Floyd earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performance in 2005 and her Master of Arts in Musicology with a certificate in Women’s Studies in 2009, both at the University of Georgia. She has over ten years of teaching experience, much of it on the faculty of the University of Georgia Community Music School where she teaches violin, viola, Suzuki group classes, and parent education courses. From 2012- 2014, Rebecca taught at Parker Elementary School’s Suzuki Strings Program in Houston, Texas. At Parker, a Title I Magnet school with an amazing music program, Rebecca taught 50 private violin students from kindergarten to fifth grade, as well as daily group classes. In July 2014, she returned to Georgia, and the UGA Community Music School. Rebecca truly believes, as Dr. Suzuki did, that children are products of their environment, and she strives to create an environment that will enable her students have positive musical experiences and “beautiful hearts.” Rebecca has trained with Lynn Baughman, Ed Kreitman, Betsy Stuen-Walker, Carrie Reuning-Hummel, Laurie Scott, and Teri Einfeldt.

Tatiana Pino, Cello

Tatiana is a Suzuki instructor in Books 1, 2, and 3. She’s a board-certified music therapist, holding Bachelors degrees in Cello Performance from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and Clinical Psychology from Santo Tomas University (Bogotá, Colombia). Tatiana is currently finishing her Masters in Music Therapy from Loyola University New Orleans. She has played with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Cundinamarca, National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Her teaching experience includes being faculty at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music Preparatory School, Inter-American University of Puerto Rico (inaugural Cello instructor and curriculum chair), New Orleans String Project, and 2011 Greater New Orleans Area Suzuki Summer Camp. She is currently teaching at the Loyola University New Orleans Preparatory School and offers cello lessons at her private studio. 

Cathy Anderson, Harp

Catherine Anderson received her Suzuki Harp Teacher Certification with Mary Kay Waddington in 2001, having received a BM and MM in Harp Performance from Susann McDonald at Indiana University School of Music in 1988. She has made her home inNew Orleans for the last 17 years, where she maintains a busy private studio and performs with a variety of ensembles, including the award winning Musaica Chamber Ensemble. Ms. Anderson is on the faculty of the Tulane University School of Music, and has also taught at Louisiana State University, the University of New Orleans, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, the New Orleans Suzuki Forum, and the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra.  Catherine serves on the board of the American Harp Society and is Harp Chair for the Louisiana Music Teachers Association.

Lauren Lemmler, Movement and Singing

Lauren Lemmler, violinist and violist, teaches Suzuki Violin and Viola in the Uptown area. Suzuki Training through Book 8 with various teachers: Ronda Cole, Alice Joy Lewis, Michele Higa George, Ed Sprunger.
